Chicken thighs are dark meat that is meaty, flavorful, and cooked for dinner by a lot of people. Air frying is one of the fastest methods of cooking it.

Air fryer - I used a 5.5 liter, you can use any type or any size but don't stack the chicken. If the air fryer doesn't fit all at once, you can air fry chicken thighs in batches in batches. 

Mixing bowl - This is for mixing the chicken thighs and seasoning and marinating if you have time. 

Tong - To flip the chicken halfway into cooking. 

Meat thermometer - To check the internal temperature for doneness.

Chicken Thighs Seasoning

Only a few herbs and spices are used to season the chicken thighs for this recipe. You can also use any chicken thighs dry rub or seasoning. Some seasonings that go well with chicken thighs are:

Lemon pepper seasoning

Piri Piri spice rub

Cajun seasoning

Italian seasoning

Herbs de Provence

Jerk seasoning

How To Cook Bone In Chicken Thighs In Air Fryer

Use a paper towel to pat dry the chicken thighs.

In a bowl, add paprika, garlic powder, parsley, thyme, ginger, vegetable oil, black pepper, and salt. Mix well till combined.

Brush the seasoning mix all over the chicken thighs.

Arrange the chicken thighs in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Don't stack them.

Air fry chicken thighs at a temperature of 200C/400F for 12 minutes. After 12 minutes, use a tong to flip the thighs and continue to air fry at 400F/200C for another 12 minutes or till they are cooked.

When they are cooked, bring them out of the air fryer. Let them rest for a few minutes, then serve.

How To Store

To store leftovers, let them cool completely before packing them into an airtight container, label, then store in the fridge where they will keep well for up to 5 days, or if you'd like to store them for longer, store them in the freezer where it will last up to 6 months.

It can be reheated in the air fryer, oven, or in the microwave.

To reheat it in the air fryer: Put the chicken thighs in the air fryer basket, and air fry at a temperature of 180C/360F for 4-5 minutes or till they are heated inside.

To reheat it in the Microwave: arrange the chicken on a microwave-safe plate, put the plate in the microwave, cover, and microwave at high settings for 1 minute and then at 30-second intervals till it's warmed through.

Tips

  • After seasoning the chicken, if you have the time let it marinate in the fridge for 60 minutes or more.
  • Adjust the pepper and salt quantity recommended to your preference.
  • You can use any of your favorite chicken seasoning, or spice rub to season the chicken thighs.
  • Don't stack the chicken in the air fryer basket. Arrange them in a single layer.
  • If the chicken thighs doesn't fit in the air fryer basket, cook them in batches.
