Fried ice cream is a dessert option you can serve this Valentine. Plain ice cream is boring but this gives a pleasant twist to ice cream.
INGREDIENTS ( makes 4 balls)
Vanilla ice cream
¾ cup crushed cornflakes
¾ cup crushed vanilla wafers
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 egg white
Oil for frying
DIRECTIONS
Scoop ice cream into four balls, place it on a baking sheet put it in freezer and let it freeze until very firm. This would take about 45minutes to an hour.
Combine the cornflakes, wafers and cinnamon in a bowl.
In another bowl beat the egg white until foamy.
Bring the ice cream out of the freezer, Roll the ice cream balls in eggwhite, then in the cornflakes/wafers mixture. Cover the ice cream completely with the cornflakes/wafers mixture then freeze again until firm. This time for about 3hours.
Use a slotted basket and deep fry ice cream balls two at a time for about 15 seconds until golden. Quickly drain on kitchen roll and serve immediately.
You can serve with cherries, whipped cream and berries.
