Air Fryer Chicken and Potatoes Recipe

One pot meals in the air fryer are the easiest and quickest to make and this air fryer chicken thighs and potatoes can be on the table in 30 minutes.

Cooking roasted potatoes and chicken at the same time not only saves time but you also have fewer cooking utensils to clean.

I like cooking chicken and potatoes together and when I am not baking it in the oven like this chicken drumsticks and potatoes, I make it in the air fryer.

We like to serve it with roasted vegetables or sauteed mixed veggies.

This recipe serves 4. I used a 5.7l air fryer and it fits 4 chicken thighs and 600g of potatoes. If you require more servings, I suggest you cook in batches.

Ingredients

Here are the ingredients you will need to make chicken and potatoes in the air fryer:

Chicken thighs - I used skin on bone-in chicken thighs.

Potatoes

Paprika

Garlic granules

Onion granules

Rosemary

Italian seasoning

Black pepper

Salt

Olive oil

How To Cook Chicken and Potatoes In Air Fryer

Step 1- Clean and pat chicken thighs dry with paper towels.

Step 2- Mix Rosemary, paprika, Italian seasoning, cumin, garlic granules, onion granules, salt, and oil

seasoning mix.

Step 3- Add half of the seasoning mix to the chicken thighs and mix till the chicken is evenly coated.

Step 4- Peel and cut the potatoes into 1-2 inches cubes. Rinse the potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels.

Add the remaining seasoning to the potatoes and mix till combined.

seasoned potatoes.

Step 5- Arrange the chicken thighs in the air fryer basket then add the potatoes to the spaces between the chicken.

Tip: If you want the juice from the chicken to infuse into the potatoes, line the air fryer basket with a foil, before arranging the chicken and potatoes. The potatoes will be tender and flavorful but not crispy on the side in the juice.

Step 6- Air fry chicken and potatoes at 200C/400F for 15 minutes then turn them with a tong and continue to air fry for 10-15 more until the chicken thighs are cooked through and the potatoes are tender inside and crispy on the outside.

Take the basket out of the air fryer, rest the chicken for 5 minutes then serve and enjoy.

Tips

  • You can leave the skin on the potatoes if you prefer it that way however, make sure they are well scrubbed and clean.
  • The seasoning recommended in this recipe is perfect however if you want to, you can add one or two more herbs.
  • If you want the potatoes to cook evenly, don't arrange them under the chicken but rather in the spaces between the chicken thighs because the potatoes that are not under the chicken cook faster and perfectly while the ones under the chicken take longer to cook and are not as fluffy and crispy.
  • Rest the chicken for a few minutes before cutting so the juice inside has time to redistribute after cooking.
  • You can use the drippings in the air fryer basket base to make gravy or serve the drippings on the chicken and potatoes.

How To Store

If you need to store it, let the chicken and potatoes cool, then pack them in an airtight container before storing them in the fridge for up to 3 days.
When ready to consume, reheat it in the air fryer, oven, or air fryer.
