Jerk chicken pasta is a colorful, flavorful, and delicious creamy pasta made with Jamaican jerk seasoning, bell peppers, pasta, cream, and other ingredients. This chicken jerk pasta recipe is easy, quick, and ready in 20 minutes.

Note: Jerk Chicken Pasta is also called rasta pasta, Jamaican pasta, or just jerk pasta.

Jerk Chicken Pasta Recipe

Creamy jerk chicken pasta is a comfort food that's not only colorful and creamy, but is also packed full of flavor and delicious.

If you are looking for creamy chicken pasta that is easy to cook and has bold flavors, this Jamaican pasta is the one!

It is ready in 20 minutes and makes a good dinner for any weeknight or day.

My family loves this chicken jerk pasta and it is one of our favorite creamy pasta.

This recipe uses 10 ingredients that are easily accessible in grocery stores in most parts of the world.

I used a homemade jerk seasoning, but you can use a good store-bought one.

Ingredients

Chicken- I used boneless chicken breast.

Pasta- Penne is the pasta of choice but you can use any other type.

Bell peppers- Red, Yellow, and Green

Jerk seasoning - Homemade or storebought.

Onion

Spring onions

Double cream- This is also known as heavy cream.

Parmesan

Garlic

Salt

Olive oil

How To Cook Jerk Chicken Pasta

Step 1- Pat chicken breasts dry with paper towels and season with salt and half of the jerk seasoning.

Step 2- Add water to a pot, let it boil, then add salt and pasta. Stir and let the pasta boil till it is aldente. Reserve ½ cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.

Step 3 - Place a cast iron pot on low medium heat. Add olive oil into the pot then add the chicken breasts.

Cook the chicken for 4 minutes on each side.

Step 4- Take the chicken out of the pot, let it rest for at least 5 minutes, and cut them into slices. Set aside.

Step 5- Add chopped onions into the pot and saute. Add garlic, bell peppers, spring onions, and the remaining half of the jerk seasoning. Stir and cook for 5 minutes.

Step 6- Add the double cream, reserved pasta water, and parmesan into the pot. Stir and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes before adding the sliced chicken.

Step 7- Add boiled pasta, stir, taste for seasoning, and adjust accordingly before taking the pot off the stove.

Serve jerk pasta and enjoy.

Serving Suggestion

It's a main meal and can be enjoyed on its own however here are some sides that it can be served with:

Salads

Garlic bread

Dinner rolls

Roasted veggies

Coleslaw

Storage

Pack into a sealable container and store it in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, add a splash of water and microwave it till heated, or reheat it in a pan on the stovetop till it's heated through.

Tips

  • If you have leftover jerk chicken, use it instead. This cuts out steps 1-3 of the cooking process.
  • Boil Pasta till aldente don't overcook as it continues to cook with the jerk chicken sauce.
  • Serve with more parmesan cheese if you desire.
  • To make the dish more spicy, add cayenne pepper to your taste.

Equipment

  • Cast iron pot

Ingredients

  • 3 Chicken breasts
  • 500 g Pasta Penne or any short pasta
  • 3 tablespoons Jerk seasoning
  • 160 ml Heavy cream
  • 1 each Red, green and yellow bell peppers
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
  • 3 sprig Spring onions chopped
  • ¼ cup Parmesan
  • Salt to taste
  • 1.5 tablespoon Olive oil

Instructions
