This is one of my favorite quick dinner recipes. Easy, simple, and delicious. It uses a few pantry ingredients just like my canned salmon pasta recipe. My children love pasta and love it when I make this pasta dish. It's so good we rarely have leftovers.
Canned Tuna Pasta Recipe
This easy tuna pasta recipe is simple yet delicious. It is quick to make and ready in 15 minutes.
When you don't have much in your pantry but want to make a delicious meal, this pasta tuna recipe is a go-to.
This pasta dish is perfect for midweek dinner when you want a delicious meal on the table in quick time.
It is nutritious, filling, and comforting. If you are looking for what to cook with canned tuna, look no further than this canned tuna fish pasta.
I like to use canned tuna in olive oil but when that is not available, I use tuna in brine. I drain the brine before use.
There is no need for tomatoes for this canned tuna in pasta recipe.
Ingredients
Here are what you will need to make tuna pasta:
Pasta - I used spaghetti however you can substitute spaghetti for any other long pasta like linguine, or short pasta like penne.
Canned Tuna - I like to use tuna in Olive oil. If using tuna in brine, drain the brine before adding the tuna to the pot.
Onion - I use brown onion for this recipe however, any onion will do just fine.
Garlic - Garlic cloves minced or chopped.
Italian seasoning- This can be substituted with mixed herbs.
Black pepper- Substitutions for black pepper can be cayenne pepper or red chilli flakes.
Salt- To taste
Olive oil
Parsley
Parmesan- This is optional.
How To Cook Tuna Pasta
Here's the step-by-step instructions on how to cook it :
Step 1- In a pot, boil the spaghetti till it is cooked aldente.
Step 2-(Start making the tuna sauce when the pasta is almost cooked)- In a separate pot, add olive oil and place on medium heat, then add chopped onions. Saute the onions till it's soft and translucent (this process takes about 1-2 minutes). Add minced garlic, and fry for a minute.
Step 3- Add Italian seasoning, black pepper, and salt. Stir then add the canned tuna.
Step 4- Add the boiled spaghetti to the canned tuna sauce.
Stir till all are combined.
Garnish with parsley and parmesan.
Take it off the heat and serve.

How To Store
Let the tuna fish pasta cool completely then transfer it to a sealable bowl before storing it in the fridge for up to 3 days.
It can be reheated in the microwave or on the stove. If reheating on the stove, sprinkle with water and cook on medium heat till it's warmed through.
If reheating it in the microwave, transfer it to a microwave-safe bowl, sprinkle the pasta with a tablespoon of water, and heat on the high settings for 1-2 minutes or till it's heated through.
Tips For Making Pasta With Canned Tuna
- If you want to make it creamy, add 250ml double cream to the pan after adding Italian seasoning and black pepper. Let it simmer for 2 minutes before adding pasta and mixing.
- You can substitute Italian seasoning for mixed herbs or Cajun seasoning.
- If you have spinach in the fridge, you can add this.
- It's best served when hot.

- 1 5g stock cube optional
- Salt to taste
- Parsley
- Parmesan as desired
Instructions
